In addition to being one of the nicest people I’ve met and having an incredibly cute baby (follow her Instagram, you’ll see), Colorado artist Abbey Ratcliff makes some great art. She believes that art should be accessible to everyone and has paintings and prints available in lots of sizes and price points. But, like most artists, she doesn’t particularly enjoy the shipping aspect of business. That’s why I was thrilled when she got in touch to see if CoShipping was a good fit. In October, she shipped her first batch of paintings, and it was a match made in heaven.
Special Boxes For Large Art
Abbey offers art in a variety of sizes. She let me know that her largest work would be 36” x 48”, definitely a large shipment. I didn’t have a box that large at the time so I ordered a bundle of telescopic art boxes that would work. Ordering a bundle of 10, which takes a lot of space, doesn’t always make sense to keep around your home. “Shipist was so flexible!” Abbey told me. We have the space and were more than happy help, particularly when there aren’t other good options around for Colorado art shipping!
Art Shipping and Packaging Cost

Shipping art can be intimidating. Abbey kept things simple on her site for shipping costs (a strategy that we’re a fan of), charging fixed prices for different sized pieces. Just like with Kelsey Shields Art, the discounted shipping and packaging cost that Abbey got at Shipist were far better than what she’d find going into a UPS or FedEx store. At those stores, Abbey would have to choose between a few preset box sizes, whether they were a good fit or not.
International Justice Mission
Beyond art, Abbey and her family support International Justice Mission, just like Shipist. IJM works across the world to strengthen justice systems and end all forms of slavery. I was beyond thrilled to find out that IJM is near and dear to Abbey’s heart. As if you needed another reason to support Abbey and get some of her original art, know that it in turn helps support IJM’s work.
